Management Services

Third Party Administration

Misuse of alcohol and drugs by employees can result in dangerous working conditions, costly mistakes, and performance problems.  According to government reports, approximately 70% of drug users in America are members of the workforce.  They cost their employers BILLIONS of dollars each year in absenteeism, increased healthcare costs, employee thefts, and decreased productivity.  In some cases these are lawsuits waiting to happen.  Having a Drug-Free Workplace Program that includes random drug and alcohol testing helps promote a healthy, productive, and safer workplace.  Additionally, many states offer Workers’ Comp premium discounts for companies who show a commitment to a drug-free workplace program.

As your Third Party Administrator (TPA) we can offer you more than 50 years of combined industry experience servicing both large government programs as well as small operations with less than ten employees and everything in between.  To start things off, you will get a comprehensive review of your current drug and alcohol policy to ensure that it is in compliance with all current industry regulations.  You will have access to our Nationwide network of collection sites certified for both drug and alcohol testing with the vast majority being available for 24-hour Mobile collections so that we can meet your needs at anytime, day or night.  We provide laboratory services to you using only SAMHSA certified labs, ensuring that the processing of specimens and the reporting of the results adhere to the highest standards.  With FD&AT as your TPA you will also have access to a top level Medical Review Officer (MRO) who will not only validate your drug test results but is also available to you to answer any question you may have regarding the process so that you can be sure that you are making the correct decisions within your drug-free workplace program.  FD&AT also maintains a 24-hour toll-free phone number where you will always be able to get in contact with a member of our Management team in the event of an emergency situation.

A Medical Review Officer is a position that plays a vital role in the overall Drug Testing Process.  The role of the MRO is to review and interpret laboratory results obtained through an agency's testing program.  The MRO helps protect both the rights of the employee being tested and the employer requiring the testing.

  • Using Forensic Drug & Alcohol Testing's MRO assures:

  • Respect for personal confidentiality and dignity of the donor

  • Maintenance of confidentiality of medical information, except when public safety is jeopardized

  • Maintenance of high scientific and medical standards

FD&AT is proud to offer our high quality MRO services to Employers, TPA's, Clinics, and Hospitals.  All results are securely transmitted to FD&AT from the laboratories, reviewed by our MRO and communicated back to you via secure channels, i.e. E-mail, Website, Phone or a Courier.  Your Choice!

Consortium Management

What is a Consortium? A consortium is comprised of a group of independent businesses that have entered into an association for a common purpose. In our case that common purpose is Drug and Alcohol Testing. A consortium is a great opportunity for businesses needing to comply with Federal and State regulations as they relate to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Drug-Free Workplace Program mandate. Much like group health insurance, the more participants the lower the costs tend to be, the same principals apply to a consortium. Becoming a member of a consortium is ideal for Owner/Operator’s who have a CDL, a boat captain required to maintain a USCG license, FAA licensed pilot or mechanic or any other position that mandates oversight by one of the Operating Administrations of the U.S. DOT.

Random Program Management

For a Drug-Free Workplace program to be effective the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services has outlined specific testing goals that should be met.  Each Federal Operating Administration has it’s own specific goals that it must reach to ensure it’s compliance with Federal Mandates.  If you’re a business whose employees require licensure across varied Operating Administrations then it’s very important that someone who knows and understands the different mandates and can ensure your compliance manage your Random Testing Program.  In the private sector, while there are no mandates as to the quantity of testing, certain industries have best practices that a majority of companies in that field will adhere to.  It is our business to know those best practices and keep you in line with your industry.

The larger your business becomes the more difficult it can be to keep track of all of the employees that require testing as well as keeping your running totals of tests to make sure that you are on track to meet your specific federal requirements.  Forensic Drug & Alcohol Testing can take that pressure off of your shoulders so that you are free to focus your time and energy in other areas to make your business more successful.  We will ensure that you meet your required numbers across the board and that your Drug-Free Workplace program is always in compliance.

Whether we provide you with any other services or not, let us manage your Random Testing Program.

It's too important!

Supervisor Training

Supervisors play a critical role in supporting your drug-free workplace program and enforcing your policy.  As a Supervisor you are responsible for ensuring the work is carried out such that no one's safety, security or health is ever compromised.

In the Federally regulated transportation industries Operating Administrations there are specific requirements regarding minimum standards for providing supervisor training that will allow them the ability to accurately enforce your Drug-Free Workplace program.

Our Supervisors Training program meets all U.S. Department of Transportation requirements and will reinforce the fundamentals of the expectations of a supervisor in regards to a comprehensive Drug-Free Workplace Program.

Employee Education

A successful Drug-Free Workplace Program has its roots in Employee Education. In the Federally regulated transportation industries Operating Administrations there are specific requirements regarding minimum standards for educating employees about your Drug-Free Workplace program.

Our Employee Education program will explain your company’s policy as well as the drug and alcohol testing program.  We will outline how drug and alcohol abuse affects the overall quality of the workplace, from products and services to health care and other HR areas.  Perhaps most importantly, we will let them know where they can go to get help if they have a problem or thinks someone else may have one.

Record Keeping/Reports

Employers covered under DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations must maintain records that document their testing program in accordance with 49 CFR Part 40 as well as other industry specific regulations. In addition, employers must also submit annual MIS reports to their industry specific agency outlining their drug and alcohol testing data. Forensic Drug & Alcohol Testing can makes life easier by handling these services for you. Our software allows for real time tracking of all the necessary MIS data to ensure the annual report is accurate and compliant.

Having multiple agreements ensures that we can provide our customers with the best service at the best prices.

Background Checks

As an employer, unfortunately we are not able to learn everything that we need to know about a potential employee through the interview process alone. As such, a comprehensive pre-employment background screening can provide you that necessary additional information to help make the decision to hire an individual, or to prevent a bad hiring decision.

Our comprehensive background checks can include:

- 7 year criminal/civil records search
- Statewide criminal record search
- Federal criminal/civil records search
- Statewide Moving violations search
- Workers Compensation history check
- Basic asset search
- And much more

The U.S. Dept. of Transportation (DOT) requires all employers to perform a Drug and Alcohol background check on all job applicants or employees they are placing into a DOT covered position.

These background checks must be submitted to each previous employer that the applicant/employee worked for, within the previous 2 years (3 years for CDL drivers), where they were subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing.

Performing these background checks can be time consuming and difficult. Forensic Drug & Alcohol Testing can coordinate these background checks for you and help you keep in compliance with the DOT regulations.
